Mercedes-Benz to Take the C63 AMG Sedan to the Dark Side?

You may have heard that after a six-year hiatus, Mercedes-Benz has reintroduced the Coupe to its C-Class range for the 2012 model year. Mercedes-Benz has yet another surprise in store for C-Class drivers - a C63 AMG Black Series.

Mercedes-Benz has yet to officially confirm the high-potency variant, but recent spy shots document the sleek four-door cavorting around Nurburgring. Reports also suggest that the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series sedan touts the same 510-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine found in the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. That represents a gain of 59-hp more than the 2012 standard C63 AMG sedan.

The transmission is said to also mirror what is in the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. Known as the Speedshift MCT, it boasts four modes (sport, sport-plus, manual, and race start), and is capable of shifting gears in as little as one-tenth of a second.  AMG reports that in race-start mode, the Black Series coupe can jet from zero to 60 miles per hour in four seconds flat. Other signature Black Series' touches will likely include stop-on-a-dime brakes, a larger oil cooler and mean suspension.

Of course, Fletcher Jones Imports will let you know if/when the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series sedan heads to production, as soon as the automaker unbuttons their tightly sealed lips. In the mean time, feel free to explore our extensive new Mercedes-Benz inventory (including new C-Class models) online, or in person at 7300 West Sahara Avenue, Fremont, CA.
